| Spring break went well... April and I survived and did not kill each other. The drive was much too long and I will never attempt it again... I'm pretty sure it's flying for me from now on if the trip is projected to take 17 hours or more. I did have a good time with Danielle and her friends in California, had great fun at the San Diego Zoo, and spent some quality time with my parents in New Mexico. So, overall, I'd say the trip was successful! I am not going to lie though, I was glad to be home. Glad to be back in a pattern of work again. It had been quite some time since I had been off for 10 consecutive days and by the end of it, I was pretty glad to get back to work. So now I'm back and looking forward to moving back to Texas in May. I'm not the biggest fan of moving and moving STATES is definitely right down by cleaning toilets on my list of "fun things to do", but it'll be good to be back in good ole Texas, where I will hopefully be for a good long while. I'm trying to focus on all that needs to get done with school and packing before I move, so I don't know that it's fully sunk in yet that I'll be moving back after almost 6 years in OK in approximately one month. Speaking of things to do though, I'm organizing the Science Fair for the school at which I teach this year, so that's been exciting. We have 38 participants this year and I hope they all fit in the place we're having it. My 8th graders also have an algebra test tomorrow that I need to be typing currently and finals are in almost exactly one month! Almost finished with the semester! | | |
| Spring Break is fast approaching and I don't know that I've ever been quite so excited! April (my sister) and I are travelling, by car I might add, to visit my twin sister Danielle in Fremont, CA. I wanted to stop off at the Grand Canyon but it looks like you have to pay to see it, and it's a few hours out of the way, so that may be nixed. However, we will be able to go to the San Diego Zoo on the way back and I'll finally get to see my parents' house in NM. It's been two years since they moved there and I am just now going to see it thanks to my lovely "new" car! Very exciting! So, a lot has been going on and I've been keeping busy as usual. I was accepted to the alternative certification program I applied to in Fort Worth and will be beginning that shortly. The move will be toward the end of May, so that's also fast approaching and I'm a bit anxious, but also excited. My summer will be filled with training, training, and more training, but working a lot is nothing new thankfully. Overall, I think I'm just pretty excited. I'll have to take the content area test for either chemistry or math, or both at the beginning of June I believe so I'll be preparing for that in the near future but right now I think I'm just trying to get my teaching wrapped up in a satisfactory manner. I finished reading Little Women and loved it. It was quite a bit different than the movie, but what book isn't. I'm on to Little Men now, which I "bought" from a bookstore in town. Actually, I put my name on a list for the store to call me whenever it came in (it's a used bookstore) and they called me recently, but the book wasn't in the best condition, so the nice old man who owns the place let me have it for free. It's falling apart a bit but I figure it'll work for me to read at least and I can look around for a better copy to buy. Not much else to add... maybe I'll have time sometime in the month after spring break to let everyone know how the trip went! | | |
| Time is marching on and I can't believe February is almost over! I am now 24, which is kind of weird, but not a whole lot weirder than 23 was. I like even numbered years better than odd, so I'm pretty glad I'm 24 now. I've turned in all the materials for the alternative certification program I applied to, so I should be hearing from them sometime in the next week or two. I have most of the material for the world quilt I'm making April, so that'll be pretty darn exciting... and lots of work. That's pretty much all that's been going on with me... work work work. The days are going very quickly and before I know it, I'll be leaving OK which has been my home for nearly 6 years now. Amazing. Short, I know, but that's all I got... besides a two-inch thick stack of papers to grade. Yippee. I also need to go get a car wash. I love the nice weather we've been having lately and I'm hoping it sticks around for a while. P.S. If anyone owns Little Men (the second in the Little Women trilogy), I am looking to buy it, but can't find it anywhere for a decent price. My birthday was recently, so if anyone WANTS to get it for me... they can go ahead and do that. | | |
| I hate birthday time... and Valentine's Day. Bah Humbug. | | |
| I saw this on someone's blog recently and thought it was more than applicable to me, so I stole it. I did in fact let him KNOW I was stealing it, so it's not REALLY stealing is it? Yeah, that's what I thought. I took the liberty of editing spelling and/or grammar mistakes, but otherwise, it is wholly not my work. ok, to people who are my friends: If a friend calls you - try to answer your phone. I understand you can't always do that, but when you do see that they have called (especially if they have left you a message) try to call them back as soon as possible - odds are they would really like to talk to you cause they have a question or just like hearing your voice. If it's late at night or you are really busy, calling back the next day is acceptable as well. If a friend sends you an email, there is slightly less pressure to reciprocate as quickly, but if this email contains important or time sensitive questions or information, go ahead and write them back even if it's only a few line response. Maybe it's just me, but when I receive a call from a friend, especially when it has a message attached that says "call me back," and especially if I haven't heard from them in a while - call me crazy - but I call them back. Maybe not right away, but when I get a chance, you can bet I will. Every once in a great while I will get a message at a bad time and forget about it later, but not often, and sometimes, when I get a call from someone I don't want to talk to, I will put that off for a while or maybe act like I never heard it. Now if this is the case, I will be sad, but just let me know and I will stop trying to get in touch with you. otherwise: CALL ME BACK even if its just for a few minutes, thats ok (i just don't understand the concept of not calling a friend back) oh, and it would nice to get a random call from you every once and while, too. | | |
